Roland List holds M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Since graduating he has held a wide range of positions including Head of the Hail Section of the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research, Davos, Professor of Physics (Meteorology) at the Department of Physics, University of Toronto and Deputy Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Department of Physics in Toronto. He has been Secretary General of IAMAS since 1995.
