Much to our regret we must inform you that Professor Inge Dirmhirn passed away. Inge Dirmhirn`s scientific work was mainly dealing with radiation in the human environment, with its vide variety of relevant aspects. In 1964 she published the book “Strahlung und Lebensraum”. She was professor at the Utah State University and at the University of Applied Life Sciences and Natural Ressources in Vienna. With respect to the IRC it can be said that she was member from 1963 till 1971, which means that Inge Dirmhirn (together with J. Lenoble) was the first female member of the radiation commission. During the last years she raised horses in Utah. But when she realized that she is dying due to cancer, she decided to go back to Austria a few months ago. So she faded away in a hospital in Vienna at the 20 July 2008 in the age of 83.
