This was the first IRS was to be held in China since the IRS 1986 in Beijing. It was also the second IRS in two years because the previous symposium, IRS 2022 in Thessaloniki, was delayed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 270 scientists from 18 countries participated in the fully in-person symposium, with 193 oral presentations and 74 posters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iamas.org\/blog\/2025\/02\/20\/available-now-irs2024-meeting-summary\/\">Read the 2024 meeting summary here<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IRS 2022 \u2013 International Radiation Symposium 2022<\/strong><br><strong>Date:<\/strong> 4-8 July 2022<br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Concert Hall Convention and Cultural Center, Thessaloniki, Greece<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>2022 International Radiation Symposium<\/strong> was held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Convention and Cultural Center in Thessaloniki, Greece , from 4-8 July 2022. This was the first time that the IRS took place in South America, and also the first in the Southern Hemisphere.<br><br>Foz do Iguacu city is located at the triple-national border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, and is one of the most popular scenic venues in Brazil, with several nature and wildlife features, like Iguassu National Park.<br><br>An IRS 2008 Proceedings book was provided to symposium attendees.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2004<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IRS 2004 &#8211; International Radiation Symposium 2004<\/strong><br><strong>Date:<\/strong>&nbsp;August 23-28, 2004<br><strong>Location:<\/strong>&nbsp;Busan, Korea<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Symposium reviewed the current status of radiative transfer, molecular and aerosol radiative properties, radiation budget, weather and climate applications, and measurements from ground-based stations, balloons, aircraft, and satellites.<br><br>The timing of this Symposium was very appropriate as scientists interested in these fields require up-to-date information to advance their research and knowledge.
