Martin R. Platt (1933-2012)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin, a distinguished physicist, worked for many years at CSIRO, the Australian Scientific Research Organization. There he was a Senior Principal Research Scientist and studied cloud physics. His research, collaborating with NASA, sent up instruments on the Explorer spacecraft, and he led Australia&#8217;s contribution to the U.S. Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2004, Martin received the prestigious ICLAS (International Coordination-group for Laser Atmospheric Studies) Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>C.
