Updates from BACO-25

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Busan for BACO-25! After an engaging and successful Assembly, we have some important updates to share with the community.

  • The IAMAS Assembly voted to adopt the proposed changes to the IAMAS Statutes and By-Laws.
  • The Assembly also accepted The University of Manchester‘s bid to host the IAMAS Conference 2029. The IAMAS Bureau is in the process of finalizing those plans with the University. More updates to come.
  • Lastly, IAMAS has officially formed a new commission: the International Commission on Tropical Meteorology (ICTM). Find more information on their website: iamas.org/ictm

Hannah Christensen receives IAMAS Early Career Scientist Medal 2025

We would like to congratulate Assoc. Professor Hannah Christensen (Oxford University) on being awarded the 2025 IAMAS Early Career Scientist Medal for her scientific approach which tackles the hardest problems in meteorology by applying the most fundamental underlying physics. The IAMAS Bureau proudly presented Assoc. Prof. Christensen with her award during the IAMAS assembly at BACO-25 in Busan, Korea. Congratulations, Hannah!
