The 2019 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement: Dr. Warren Washington

On February 12, Dr. Warren Washington, credited as having ‘Literally wrote the book on climate modeling’, has been announced as the winner of the ‘Nobel Prize for the Environment’, the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement. Dr. Washington is the first African American to win this prestigious 46-year-old Prize.

His co-recipient is activist Michael Mann, an outspoken and vilified climatologist and creator of the ‘hockey stick’ curve.

On May 3, Dr. Warren Washington and Dr. Michael Mann will be officially awarded the Tyler Prize medal, at an awards ceremony in San Francisco.
