ICCL at the CliC OSC 2026

The International Commission on Climate is a proud sponsor of the Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) Open Science Conference 2026.

  • WHEN: 9-12 February 2026
  • WHERE: Wellington, New Zealand

As a pan-cryospheric meeting, the CliC OSC will address all elements of the cryosphere and its climate connections. From modellers and observationalists to social scientists and community organizers, we welcome leading and emerging experts as well as early career researchers (ECRs) to present their work and discuss the state of cryospheric science.

ICCL and IAMAS encourage members to join us in Wellington this coming February. For those of you interested in submitting an abstract – there’s still time! Abstract submission closes 19 September 2025.

As a sponsor, ICCL has access to two complimentary registrations. Any ICCL member considering attending the CliC OSC can contact Keith Alverson (past ICCL president) at iamas.secretary@gmail.com for more information.

Training School on stratosphere-troposphere interactions

The IUGG/WCRP-SPARC training school on stratosphere-troposphere interactions is jointly organised by SPARC (Stratosphere-troposphere Processes And their Role in Climate, a core project of the World Climate Research Programme), the Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town, and the International Commission on the Middle Atmosphere (ICMA) of IAMAS (International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences).

The training school will take place directly after the IAPSO/IAMAS/IAGA international conference (Cape Town from 28 August to 1 September 2017) and is aimed at advanced Masters and PhD students. The programme covers lectures and hands-on practical sessions as well as mini-projects that are to be completed during the school. Three main themes will be covered: Tropospheric dynamics and climate, stratospheric dynamics and chemistry, and stratosphere-troposphere interactions. More information about the school as well as the application form can be found at: www.sparc-climate.org/meetings/Training_school_on_stratosphere_troposphere_interactions_Sep2017
