Field Campaigns
- 2025 NSF GOTHAMM – air quality study in New York City region.
- 2024-2028 NOAA AIRMAPS (methane & air pollutant surveys).
- 2028 NASA HAMAQ.
- Potential NSF southeast US anthropogenic / biogenic experiment.
- April 2024 – Oct 2025 – DOE ARM CAPE-k (Cloud And Precipitation Experiment at kennaook) – field campaign at Tasmania’s Kennaook/Cape Grim station (Australia) that has been collecting observations of Southern Ocean clouds, precipitation, and aerosol–cloud interactions to improve climate model representations in pristine marine environments.
- Dec 2024 – November 2025 – DOE ARM Coast-Urban-Rural Atmospheric Gradient Experiment (CoURAGE) – year-long atmospheric study around Baltimore to understand how coastal, urban, and rural environments interact to shape the city’s climate, air quality, and extreme weather.
- Oct 2024 – Sept 2029 – Bankhead National Forest, Alabama – new DOE ARM observatory in the U.S. Southeast designed to study aerosols, clouds, and land–atmosphere interactions, and to serve as a testbed for advancing Earth system predictability using AI and machine learning.
- DOE ARM is preparing for DUSTIEAIM (April 2026 – Sept 2027) – field campaign in Phoenix studying how desert–urban environments and the North American Monsoon interact to influence aerosols, clouds, and precipitation.
